Metabolic syndrome

Metabolic syndrome increases your risk of stroke, cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes.

If you have 1 or more of the following risk factors, you are at a elevated risk for these chronic diseases:

~  high blood pressure

~  high cholesterol

~  overweight

~  blood sugar imbalances

~  insulin resistance

~  high blood triglycerides

~  sedentary lifestyle

~  high stress lifestyle

Insulin resistance is a risk factor for PCOS and infertility.

Metabolic syndrome is mostly caused by diet and lifestyle factors and can be reversed with some nutritional changes, herbal medicine, stress reduction and exercise.

Working with your gut microbiome is key to making changes to your metabolism and blood glucose regulation.

I always prescribe herbal medicine as a short term measure to support healthy digestion, liver and pancreas function in people with metabolic syndrome.

The treatment can take several months. However, it is possible to reduce blood pressure, insulin resistance and cholesterol, so that medication is no longer needed.

Weight loss is also possible when we identify and treat the reasons for the weight gain.

A change for the better

Has your doctor mentioned that you are at risk for heart disease or diabetes? Has he/she recommended diet and lifestyle changes before going on medication?

This is the perfect window of opportunity to try a naturopathic approach to wellness and prevention.

I will work with you to uncover the root causes of your metabolic syndrome. Then I will guide you through gradual changes to support your metabolism and blood glucose management.

Change can be hard, but I'll be with you at every step and you will feel fabulous when you reach your goal.
